Where do I start The entire answer to that one depends on what age you are. To start racing you will need a race license and to get a license you need to first have joined a club, so that is your first step. The link to the right will tell you all about joining clubs. Once you are a club member the age thing comes into play. If you are a Junior you must do the manditory Motorcycling Australia "Kickstart" program. This is a set course that will take a full day to complete. We run these courses at our "Come and try" days in conjunction with the California Superbike School. You can check the training page on this website for the next training day. Once you have completed your training and been given a logbook, signed off by the trainer, you can now apply to your local governing body for a license. Your club will be able to help you through this process. If you are a senior you do not need to do any training. We would advise though that you should have made sure that you have done a number of track days before you attempt to go racing. Being familiar with the track and track etiquette before you go racing will likely save you both money and some pride. Once you are up to a good level through track days and have joined a club, you can simply apply for a race license through the local govening body. Your club can help you through this process. Whether Junior or Senior there are a few things that you need to make sure that you have covered before you enter your first race meeting. Use the "Go Racing" link to the left to go through the checklist. Once you have started, be warned it is addictive and you'll wonder why it took you so long! |
