22/01/2008 - MRRDA and Landcare Australia enter into a Partnership

Motorsport is not usually associated with looking after the environment. In fact many would argue that by its nature motorsport does the opposite.

However the MRRDA and Landcare Australia are proud to announce a new partnership for 2008 with a vision to together to raise awareness for ways in which we can help look after our environment, while enjoying our motorsport.

Paul Edwards - MRRDA Chairman - “Although I may have originated from the UK , I, like the rest of the MRRDA Committee am 100% Aussie. We love this beautiful country and it is important that we look after it. In working with Landcare we aim to raise awareness of ways in which we can enjoy our sport and yet look after the environment. This is simply a fantastic partnership to be involved in. We hope that as the partnership matures we find many ways to help Landcare and maybe plant a tree or two! "

The partnership will see the MRRDA promote Landcare on the MRRDA website and in a number of communications with the MRRDA participants and the media.

It is envisaged the MRRDA will also get involved with Landcare community group activities and invite MRRDA series participants to do likewise. Landcare will also be seen at various MRRDA organised events with information and the steps we can take to assist.

Scott Gibson – Landcare Australia - "Surprisingly, as a motorsport fan, this partnership makes more sense than most I have been involved with. It's not about telling what you can't do – but what we can do! Simple things that help make a difference, like how we dispose of oil, batteries, tyres – basic stuff. There's all kinds of ways we can look at what we're doing and how we're doing it. Most of the brands we all deal with everyday have had to make changes and they're finding it's more often to their benefit than anything else. It's about the future, most of all for young Australians we want to help enjoy the heritage and benefits motorsport has within our great Aussie culture. So to work with the MRRDA and in particular the junior element of the program is a different, but great new direction. I'm looking forward to it! "
