2008 MRRDA National Road Race Series

This year's series has a number of exciting new additions. We'll see the inclusion of the Moriwaki 250GP Mono which will add some four stroke action into the 125GP class. The format for the 400's has changed with qualifying on the Saturday more important than ever. The 250GP class will have National Champiosnhip status. Each of the Junior races now scores points. The Juniors can score a point for securing the "Draggin Jeans" pole position. There are more prizes up for grabs and best of all, the series will be seen on TV. The Juniors get their very own TV series called "Born to Race" which will be aired on Fox. We also get coverage on Inside Speed and Speedweek. It's a great time to be racing, so come and join in, or come and watch. We're going to have a ball!

It is reported in today's AMCN that the MRRDA and Mark Bracks have expressed an interest in promoting the Australian Road Race Championships for 2009 and beyond, should the opportunity arise. As Mark points out in the article, the report is correct, but we are not in a position to comment any further on it as yet. We will keep you posted as things progress.

Craig Jones in the WSS at Brands Hatch

It has just been brought to our attention that after yesterdays nasty crash at Brands Hatch, Honda rider Craig Jones this morning (Aussie time) passed away. Craig was a real fighter on the track and Aussie rider Broc Parkes tells us a real nice guy off the track. We all know that motorcycle racing can be dangerous, but you just can't prepare yourself for something like this. This emphasises why rider saftey must be paramount in this sport. Our thoughts and prayers and our deepest condolences go out to Craigs family and friends.
