Junior Training day at Oran Park
24 January 2007
On Wednesday January 24th Steve Brouggy and the California Superbike School ran an absolutely awesome day at Oran Park for Junior's on their Honda CBR150's.
Steve and his team took the Juniors through the very basics and then progressed on to a number of essential road racing skills. After the day Matt Walters (#20) said “I've learnt more today than all my other coaching classes put together”. There is no doubt that all participants learned a lot and it was evident in their progress throughout the day.
With riders coming from Queensland , Victoria and New South Wales it was a good turnout for the first training day run by the California Superbike School for Juniors. “All I can say is WOW really” Paul Edwards Chairman of the MRRDA said. He went on to say “Steve and his team have exceeded my expectations. They have shown that they are keen to go that extra mile and their professionalism was really at the very highest level. I can't thank Steve and his crew enough for what they have done here today and for their support of the series. It is great to know that the Juniors will get the very best training available through Steve, the California Superbike School and the MRRDA.
Having seen what these guys have learnt today, I can see that young and old, novice or experienced the California Superbike School has something to offer and I'll be certainly looking to Steve for some extra help with my racing and would encourage riders of all levels and ages to seriously look at booking in for one of Steve's training days”.
Also in attendance were Amy and Katie from the Red Bull Wiings team who were there with cool cans of Red Bull to keep officials and participants alike, full of energy. World Supersport rider Broc Parkes was there to add his support and impart a bit of wisdom. Apart from his one on one chats with the Juniors, Broc was also on hand to provide some valuable input on race starts during one of the class sessions.
With Kellie Buckley from AMCN there to report on the day, we look forward to seeing a feature story of at least 4 pages in a coming issue in Australia 's number 1 motorcycle magazine.
We hope to be able to release information on further California Superbike days for Juniors in the next couple of weeks.
